Refund and Returns Policy
Fur-Ever Paws Adoption Returns/Refunds
As a no-kill facility, successful adoptions are the only way to create space to bring in additional homeless dogs. Along those lines, every attempt is made to keep pets with their owners.
All dogs placed in our adoption program are evaluated for health and temperament. Because the dogs in our facility are often stray or surrendered animals, with no known medical or behavior history, it is possible that some may not show signs of illness or behavior until several weeks after adoption. For this reason, we strongly encourage you to purchase pet insurance as soon as possible and to take your new pet to your veterinarian to follow up on all necessary vaccinations. Both of these actions, in our opinion, are vital to your adoption.
Unfortunately, due to limited space and resources, Fur-Ever Paws Dog Rescue is not able to accommodate all requests. There is no guarantee your adopted pet will be readmitted to Fur-Ever Paws.
In ALL cases, there is a strict no refund policy of your adoption donation.
Should your new pet become ill, we do offer a 7 day health guarantee for adoption animals if that animal has seen a veterinarian within the first 72 hours of the adoption. The adoption donation can not be refunded, but you can choose another pet within six months of the return.
Frequently Asked Questions:
- What if I encounter behavior challenges with my newly adopted furry friend?
Often, there are wide variances in the length of time it takes for a dog to feel comfortable and secure. Some animals adjust in a few days, but most take several weeks, and some need months before they feel safe enough to fully relax.
- If I am no longer able to care for my adopted pet—what then?
First, please do all you can to rehome your animal because it is so stressful for them to return to a shelter. If you have transferred care of your adopted pet to another party, please contact us at 302-312-5129 and provide us the name and address of the new owner so that we can correct our records.
- If my efforts to rehome are not successful, will you take my adopted pet back?
To have your pet considered for surrender, you are required to contact us at 302-312-5129 and prepay the $50.00 rehoming fee. Then, if we are able to accommodate your request, we will contact you by phone and place your pet on a wait list. Once space becomes available at one of our foster locations, we will schedule an appointment to surrender your adopted pet. However, an appointment does not guarantee readmission. Fur-Ever Paws will notify pet owners via email if we cannot accommodate the request for surrender. All animal surrenders/returns are by appointment only. No walk-ins will be permitted. There are no refunds of the adoption donation in any case.
